We're excited to host our 2nd Annual Family Day Charity Challenge this Monday Feb 18th from 8am - 6pm! This challenge is an all day collaborative event to help inspire people to be more active while raising money for local families in need of healthy food.
We’ve teamed up with Hamilton Food Share again this year to help feed our local community and this Monday is your chance to team up with us to help even more! Here’s a little more info on our event:
The Purpose: To inspire people to be more active in their lives!
The Challenge: Collectively, we challenge our #ALPfamily members, our friends, and our local community's fitness levels and rowing skills to see how far we can all row on our Concept 2 Rowing machines for a duration of up to 10 minutes - this event is open to non-members - as long as you give us 10 minutes of effort on our rowers (and row AT LEAST 1/2 a km), you’re day pass is waived to use our facility (excludes classes)
Our goal: to have a great time, help people in our Hamilton / Stoney Creek community be more active, and to raise money to be donated to a local charity (Hamilton Food Share) to help our local community have access to better quality foods, and more of it!
Here's how we'll do that... For every kilometer rowed, ALP will donate $$$ on behalf of the participants to our friends at the Hamilton Food Share!!! The more active you are with the greater effort given, the more money you’ll raise to give to those in need and help Hamilton Food Share feed more people in our local community! All you gotta do is row and we’ll do the rest!
The longer distance you row within a 10 min interval, the higher the donation! We’ve made it even easier to increase your contribution to our total donation this year with more distance levels, they are as follows:
Row ½ km = $2 donation
Row 1km = $4 donation
Row 1.5km = $6 donation
Row 1.75km = $8 donation
Row 2km = $10 donation
Row 2.25km = $12 donation
Row 2.5km = $14 donation
Row 2.75km = $16 donation
And if anyone rows 3km in 10 minutes, we’ll donate $20!!!!
Although we reached our goal of $250 last year, we didn't get a single participate to reach 3km - any takers this year?

Yes, you can do more than 1 attempt (10 minute intervals)
YES, food drive items are welcome and highly requested if you’re able to spare any canned food items and non-perishables. Please, no expired foods.
This event is open to the public!!!! And we'll even waive our drop-in fee for the day if you participate in our challenge (excluding group training classes - members only)
And in the spirit of family day, we’re opening the doors to your children ages 10+ to participate in the row challenge (must be accompanied by an adult and can only participate in the 10 minute row challenge itself to help contribute to the donation total, but cannot workout after as our gym 18+ without a coach or registered in one of our youth athletic programs.)
Come out to ALP Training Institute Monday Feb 19th for Family Day and help us support our local community and give back to those in need this family day!! Event runs all day and were open 8am - 6pm for the holiday.
