GENERAL COMPETITION INFO
AND LIFTING RULES
WEIGH-IN:
1hr before scheduled lifting session - finalized schedule to be announced the week of the competition (once final numbers of participants are known)
You will provide us with your snatch and clean & jerk opening attempts
ATHLETE UNIFORM:
Singlet not required but is encouraged if possible
No long sleeved shirts or elbow supports (elbows must not be covered)
Proper Footwear
No Straps - Knee Sleeves are permitted
LIFTING RULES:
Once barbell passes knees, attempt is live
Barbell lowered when given sign from centre referee
Must be one continuous movement from ground to overhead (no pulling from hang position)
No press-outs of any kind during any lift
Elbows may NOT touch any part of body during anytime of the lift
Athlete must become motionless before attempting jerk
Feet must come together for a complete lift
Touching ground with any body part other than feet is prohibited
GENERAL FLOW OF COMPETITION
3 attempts of each lift (Snatch and Clean & Jerk)
The barbell is loaded in progression. The athlete requesting the lightest weight lifts first. Once the announced weight is loaded on the barbell, and the clock has started, the weight cannot be reduced.
The following 2 factors listed in priority must be considered when calling the athletes:
1. The weight of the barbell (lightest weight first)
2. The number of the attempt (lowest number first)
One (1) minute (60 seconds) is allocated to each athlete between the calling of his / her name and the beginning of the attempt
When an athlete attempts two (2) lifts in succession, he / she is allowed two (2) minutes (120 seconds) for the succeeding attempt
When an athlete wishes to increase the weight originally selected, the athlete must notify the Marshal/ Scorekeeper
TIPS
Don't stress out about your weight (it’s a FUN competition)
If this is your 1st Meet, set your opening attempts with a number you can generally lift 9/10 times.
